What admission conditions apply to courses for secondary level II teachers?
The condition for admission to this type of course is completion of academic study in one or two subjects to Master’s level. Where academic study has been in only one subject, the pedagogical component can be completed by partial integration within the academic master-level study. In the case of academic study in two subjects, the pedagogical education is usually finished after completion of the academic master-level study. In terms of the minimum requirements contained in the EDK regulations, the condition for admission to these courses of study is a grammar school matriculation certificate, and an EDK-recognised teaching qualification or a degree from a university of applied sciences. Candidates who are in possession of another qualification must complete another entrance examination, to which is added a professional aptitude check. How can I have my foreign teaching qualification recognised?
The general secretariat of the EDK verifies the following foreign educational qualifications:
- Teaching qualifications (early years, primary, secondary I, matriculation schools),
- Qualifications in early years special education, school-level special education, speech therapy and psychomotor therapy.
Enquiries regarding recognition of teaching qualifications should therefore be referred to the Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education (EDK/CDIP/CDPE/CDEP).
